House Prices and NFL Draft Picks

When you think about buying a house there are a million of comparisons you can make with it. One of my favorite ones to compare it to is the NFL Draft. Just like in the draft, you have many different options depending on a person’s needs. If your funds call for it, you can go ahead and take your first round pick of a home. You can go all out and get that 400 thousand plus home all the way up to the multi-million dollar mansion. Then on the other hand, you might be at your “salary cap” and have to trade away your high round picks and settle for a “project pick.”

When buying or selling for that matter, you need to realize what you are getting for your money, and that there are so many factors that come into play. Whether it is taking into account what your competition is going to and has sold for and how the house compares to them, or if it is the conditions of the market, you should get what you pay for. But that isn’t always the case. I can’t tell you how many time we have seen people get themselves a lemon or a “Ryan Leaf.” Then there are cases where you get so much more for your money in a home or a “Tom Brady.” Then there is the case where a buyer needs to realize they are buying a project or in draft terms a 4th to 6th round draft pick. When you are buying this one, you need to realize you aren’t going to get a “starter,” but if you build/”train” it right, you will have yourself a diamond in the rough.

Just remember, whether you are buying a house or drafting a football team, make sure you do you research and get yourself a good agent or front office man!
