Barnum

Barnum

The Barnum neighborhood was created in 1896. Its borders are from West 6th Ave. to Alameda Ave. and from Federal Blvd to Sheridan Blvd.
The neighborhood was named after P.T. Barnum who was one of the creators of the Barnum Bailey Circus. Barnum bought several hundred acres of terrain in the late 1880’s and when the vicinity was annexed into the City of Denver in 1896, they named the area “Barnum” in his tribute.
There are many historical landmarks in the Barnum neighborhood. A bunch of the homes in this area are reasonably priced for first time home buyers, and vary in size from 1,000 finished square feet to just over 2,500 finished square feet. A few have 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, but some have up to 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Others have been updated since they were built in the early 1900’s to the 1950’s.
Barnum lies close to I-25 and 6th Ave., and the district is located just a short way from Downtown Denver. Near also are Weir Gulch Open Space Park, Westwood Park, Barnum North Park, Barnum East Park, and Barnum South Park.
